Eighteen members of the now-shuttered Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Penn State University face charges in connection with the Feb. 4 death of sophomore Timothy Piazza of Lebanon, New Jersey. Eight face the most serious charge of aggravated assault, a felony that carries a sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison. Local manufacturer brings jobs to Blair County

SNYDER TOWNSHIP -- Kunzler & Co. is creating dozens of jobs at its Blair County location, according to the plant's general manager, Dave Grazier. The expansion comes a few days after county economic leaders expressed concern over hearing that Cenveo and Appvion, both paper-related businesses, would be downsizing or leaving the area, taking jobs with them. Joe Hurd, president and CEO of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, said last week that he didn't see a trend in manufacturing industries disappearing locally, but the predictability depends on what exactly the companies manufacture. Prosecutors to seek death penalty against Altoona man found living with corpse for 3 days

Altoona, PA (WJAC) — Authorities in Blair County say prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty against an Altoona man who is accused of stabbing another man nearly 100 times and then was reportedly found living with the victim's corpse for three days. During a formal arraignment Tuesday morning, prosecutors presented a notice that if Raymond Oechsle Jr. is found guilty of murder in the death of 42-year-old Christopher Helsel, then the District Attorney's office will ask that the jury sentence him to death.
