A Somerset Chemical Company turns to China for supplies due to high inflation rates

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A local chemical company once used only a percentage of supplies from china and majority of supplies from North America. Now the company finds themselves buying all supplies from China. Guy Berkebile the President and Founder of Guy Chemical Company in Somerset County has kept a close eye towards product supply and demand but could not help turning to China to keep his company afloat. Lakemont Park closing rides for 2024 season, park officials announce

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — Officials with Lakemont Park announced Friday that the park will be closing its rides for the 2024 season. No swimming at Presque Isle beach because of elevated E. coli count

ERIE COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — A heads-up if you're heading to Lake Erie for swimming: One of the beaches at Presque Isle State Park has restricted swimming because of an elevated count of Escherichia coli bacteria, according to the Erie County Department of Health. As of Monday, no swimming is allowed at Beach 8 until testing confirms E. coli has dropped to safe levels. Officials say recreational activities like sunbathing and volleyball are still allowed.
