SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — December is a huge month for Rizzo's Restaurant in Windber, with families and friends traditionally dining inside for the Holidays and New Year's Eve. "Normally, it's so busy here that you can't even move," said manager Danette Chippie. But due to new COVID-19 mitigation efforts announced Thursday, those traditions won't be happening this year. SCASD asks judge to dismiss lawsuit over allowing private, home school students to participate in ex

Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — There's a difference between private schools and parochial schools in Pennsylvania and the State College School District is citing that difference as a major factor in asking that a federal lawsuit against the district be dismissed. In July, two sets of parents joined the Religious Rights Foundation of Pennsylvania in a federal suit against the State College School District, claiming the district unfairly discriminates against home school and parochial students, specifically in not allowing them to participate in school district extracurricular activities. UPMC Altoona Foundation to host annual 'happy feet' event providing free foot & ankle exams, boots &

Blair Co., PA (WJAC) — UPMC Altoona Elite Orthopedics in Hollidaysburg will be hosting its annual "happy feet" event this Friday. The practice partners with the UPMC Altoona Foundation, Family Services and Shoefly to raise money to purchase winter boots and socks for those in need. Each person will have a free foot and ankle exam and be fitted for new boots and socks. Anyone over 10 years old who is in need is eligible. Read More...
